Creative Workout - Mixed Media Place

Hello love1ies! I'm back with you today with a project I created for the challenge over at  Mixed Media Place. Using black, white, grey and another colour of your choice....

...and as you can see I chose purpleas my colour...or should that be fuschia purple...?

I've been enjoying creating a few tags recently, as they are so compact they are a great way to try out ideas and experient. I've used washi tape, paper scraps as the base of the tag, adding some Finnabair Graphite Texture paste and mica flakes for 3D texture.

Look at that shimmery paste, isn't it stunning?

The giant jigsaw piece has been painted with heavy gesso, which was coloured with Dr Martins India Ink in Red Violet, adding tulle net, an Invild Bolme bulb (which I've altered by painting and stamping "shine" onto) and an old screw. I really like how this quick little project turned out, the colours are singing loud and clear to me!!

Happy pumpkin day,

Prima Pin Spin Time!

Hi guys! Hope your mid-week is going well. I'm back to share a layout I created for Prima's "Pin Spin" feature over on the blog today.

Here's my pick from Pinterest. I fell in love with the colours in this pin - the beautiful pop of orange combined with the turqouise and hints of white wood, which I've incorporated into the layout via the Forever Green paper. The general theme is shadows and light, which is very Autumnal in itself. For luxurious texture I've used crackle paint, glass glitter, and mica flakes interspersed around the flowers.

The colours epitomise this time of year for me!

I've used lots of texture and detail on this LO, adding Copper Crackle and glass glitter on and around the main arrangement.

highlighting with pencil. For the 4444 I've snipped up pieces of the burlap trim and adhered them to the paper with heavy gesso. I've used watercolour inks to add the mottled effect.

Another close up. I gave this beautiful big rose a spritz with some Tangerine Prima Color Bloom and highlighted with gold ink.

Don't forget to make your way over to the Prima blog to see some more interpretations of the challenge :)

Halloween Canvas Tutorial

Hello!

Hope you're all doing well. I can't beleive another Monday has rolled around again! So to brighten up the beginning of the week, I have another step by step for you today. I created this canvas for the  Halloween mixed media challenge over at the Artist Trading Post blog.

Another grungy, spooky offering from me here :) I just love creating Halloween projects, so fun and different from the norm!

Step 1: To start off I applied a layer of light texture paste to an A5 piece of hard board.

Step 2: Placing a mask on top and gently applying pressure...

Step 3: I used a selection of orange inks and mists to add colour.

Step 4: Layering up numbers cut from a sheet of Tim Holtz 12x12, which I've painted with Platinum Crackle paste.

Step 5: Adding texture plaste around the canvas. I've been quite generous with it to give a lumpy and bumpy result!

Step 6: Adding hot glue and seed beads for more texture.

Step 7: Painting over  the beads and paste with Graphite Texture paste.

Step 6: I'm using more light paste in the middle of the paper compostition.

Step 7: Stamping into the damp paste. I do this very gently to avoid it sticking to the stamp too much.

Step 8: Time to start embellishing. The skeleton card is one I printed from the internet, which I've cut the rib cage from and the skull is actually a pencil eraser, which I'm slicing in half. Very apt for Halloween!

Step 9: I've cut a butterfly from a sheet of 12x12 (Tim H again) and stuck it onto the paste "wall", along with some ink highlights.

Step 11: Finally adding some stamped details.

Step10: The butterfly has been coloured with Pro Markers, mica powders and highlighted it with Ranger Enamel Accents. I've added some "junk" embellishments, text cut from a book, muslin and more hot glue trails for a spooky, spiders web effect.

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial, and it's got your creative juices flowing!

Hugs,

Be Scared...Be VERY, VERY Scared!

Hello lovelies! That spooky time of year is fast approaching, and in celeration we have a Halloween fest over on the Prima blog today.
.

My "box of horrors" started out as a metal box (which was part of a light switch fitting) which I painted with black chalk board paint.

I had fun decorating in traditional Halloween colours (I have a thing for this colour combo!), adding emossing crystals, Art Ingredients beads, glitter and mica flakes for texture. and added trails of glue for a spooky effect.

Around the side of the box I've added Prima Pebbles painted with chalk paint again, adding mica powder for extra shimmer and adding trails of glue for a spooky effect.

The skull is actually a pencil eraser which I painted in Platinum Crackle, adding a tiny set of Ingvild Blome clock hands to one of the eye sockets. If you've spotted the spider...he's been created from Say It In Crystals, wire legs and beads for eyes - fun!

See you later,

Imagine Freedom - Mixed Media Tag Tutorial

Hey-lo everyone! Hope you're all doing well. I have a tag and tutorial I created for the new mixed media challenge over at Artist Trading Post for you today!

I was inspired by Autumnal colours, pulling warm reds and oranges together.

A few details to spy ;)

I just love this butterfly, which I had sat on my desk for an age. It was cut from a sheet of 12x12 (Prima Lyric collection) and I'm very pleased I finally put it to good use!

Step 1: Applying white gesso to kraft tags, texturising with a palette knife.

Step 2: Next step, splodging some Dr. Martins india inks on top of the gesso.

Step 3: I dropped a selection of the india inks (Orange, Van Dyke Brown, Cherry Red and Yellow Ochre) onto acetate...

Step 4: ...and then pressed a large white tag into the inks, creating this gorgeous effect.

Step 5: Adding some details with a pencil and mask

Step 6: Spreading clear 3D Gel over the pencilled details.

Step 7: Next I applied a layer of crackle paint (Marigold) onto a strip of paper and sprinkled with Prima Art Ingredients Pearl glass glitter on top.

Step 8: Stamping onto a piece of ripped vellum with a Prima Vintage Vanity Advert #2 clear stamp.

Step 9: Time for layering up all the prepared tags and embellishing with Art Ingredients mica flakes in Granite and a glittered circle which I made by spreading 3D Gel into a bottle top, sprinkling with glitter and then leaving to dry. Once completely dry it peels away to form a perfect circle!

Step 10: I've finished up the tag with a few more embellies, including copper tape, butterfly which was painted and highlighted with Glossy Accents and "Imagine Freedom" title.

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial and have a fab weekend!
