I'm so excited to announce I will be back at Papeterie Crafts in Aberdeen next April!! I had a fabulous time when I visited in August and I'm really looking forward to returning. There will be a full weekend of Prima workshops and mixed media messy fun, with an art journal and canvas workhops! Details below:

Firstly, I just to apologise for things being a little quiet around here recently. It's been a very busy here with lots happening behind the scenes, along with a few bouts of illness to hamper things! Because We All Need to Bloom: Art Journal Page

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all well and enjoying the later Summer sun. Today's post is a dose (that was snappy, go me!) of WOW! inspiration for you. I decided to try out the new Hey Little Flower and Just Saying stamps combining them into an art journal page

Firstly I applied a layer of clear gesso to my page to protect the pages then once this was dry I added paint and watercolor ink for my colour base. Into the wet paint and ink I added pinches of Silver Stratosphere and Blueberry Cheesecake embossing powders which I heated to melt.

Once happy with the arrangement I stamped various flowers from the Hey Little Flower stamp set around the pages with black ink and WOW's clear slow drying ink pad. I sprinkled Metallic Copper and Pink Lady over the wet ink and set with a heat tool.

I filled some of the petals with a chalk pen and some with WOW's clear embossing pen, which enable me to add embossing powder into those fiddly areas!  

 I finished off with some more stamping from the Just Saying set, doodles and journal scribbles.

I hope you will be inspired to try using your WOW stamps and powders for something a little different like journalling and don't forget to join in this month's challenge.

Escape Journalling

Hi everyone!

I hope you are doing well. It's a busy busy day at Peanut headquarters and I'm taking a breather from work to share a journal page I created a while back but never got around to posting

My idea of an inspirational page is to create something with freedom and honesty along with adding in things which are powerful to me. And for me the journalling on this one is the power point.

I wanted a bold and striking feel to the pages with an urban edge and bright, clear colours. I used a selection of my favourites from the Art Alchemy paints which are the usual suspects of teal, hot pink, orange and mauve.

Sculpture Medium is great for giving texture 3D properties and durability to bend into various forms. Here I used the Clear Sculpture Medium with cotton to create the 3D hair on my image, painting  the medium around the edge of the image and coiling lengths of cotton into it. I painted over with more of the medium and layered with more cotton to build up the texture.

Using oil pastels onto a gessoed surface and blending with fingers is a great way to create journal backgrounds. I used the new Art Alchemy acrylic paints around the pastel details which added rich metallic colour.

Beige Sculpture Medium was used to create the messy swirls, I simply drizzled onto the page to create texture then added doodle details on and around the dry medium.

Top Embossing Techniques Video Tutorial

Hi sweeties!

I hope you are doing well. I have some embossing inspiration for you today with this texture rich Birthday card I created for the WOW! "favourite embossing techniques challenge this month. Plus there is a start to finish video tutorial which encompasses some of my favourite quick and easy embossing techniques.

The card's background has been achieved using the WOW! Clear Ultra Slow Drying Embossing ink pad along with a selection of gorgeous blue hued embossing powders.

And in the video tutorial I give you a few ideas for pimping up your embellishments!

As you can see you can create some fabulous effects and textures with embossing powder which are great for all your projects.

The Journey - WOW! MIxed Media card tutorial

Hey everyone! I hope you are well and feeling creative today. Over on the WOW! embossing powder blog the month's theme is Summer and I went for a less obvious route as inspiration for the project; journeys. Summer is all about holidays, trips out, getting out and enjoying the light, warmth (occasionally!) and possibilities it brings.

I firstly gessoed the front of the card and added the main texture of tulle net which I adhered with soft gel medium, sprinkled with embossing powders onto then melted with a heat tool .

Using a WOW! Clear Ultra Slow Drying Embossing pad to tap around the edges of the card I then sprinkled with Copper powder to add a dramatic metallic highlight. 

On top of the net details I added a foiled die cut star and stamped leaf from the Feathers of Fancy

with the Clear Ultra Slow Drying Embossing pad. I sprinkled the images with Bonding Powder then melted with a heat tool and lightly pressed Teal and Copper Fab Foil onto the stamped details. Leave to cool, lift off and hey presto! For some further interest I layered stamped multiple images using the Sparkle & Shine set.

June Prima Product Picks

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all well. Back here today to share with you my latest creation for Prima. It's PPP (Prima Product Pick) challenge time over on the Prima  blog and aren't the fresh light colours divine?

I wanted to create my PPP project as an off-the-page number and found the colours inspired me to create something based on the Trevi Fountain in Rome. When I visited Roma many years ago as a teenager I absolutely fell in love with the iconic fountain.

 

So, meet King Poseidon, otherwise know as Neptune, whom I created with a Relics & Artifacts figurehead layered with gesso, 3D Gel, and wool, to create his beard. I added a spritz of Color Bloom and dusting of Artisan Powder to give him an aged look.  He sits upon a beautiful shell and Memory Harware glass pearl beads which I painted with copper Art Alchemy.

The nautical netting is actually net packaging from some limes! 

The base of the project is a canvas board which I covered with the aforementioned netting, gesso, dried up mounds of 3D gel, natural stones and Prima Art Stones.

Shells, flowers and pearls painted with Art Alchemy metallic paints give a dreamy nautical feel while adding a metallic definition.
