Inspiration Mondays

Hello everyone! I hope you are all in fine fettle. Recently I have been thinking about sprucing things up a little around here and after some thoughts decided to start things off with some different blog features.

It's always fun to see what is inspiring people and I figured we could all do with a spot of inspiration at the begining of the week, hence this new feature (ingeniously titled lol) Inspiration Monday. So the plan is to show you pictures, quotes, words, colours etc to give you a little creative jump start.

So to kick off with this week I have these beautiful snaps I took these whilst I was out walking.

Now I am completely a Summer person but there is something captivating about Autumnal colours, don't you think? The stunningly bright oranges, reds and yellows against a blue sky can be breathtaking. I am finding myself being drawn to these rich warm colours and have been filled with many ideas for projects.

I am very much looking forward to playing with  these colours soon :)

What is currently inspiring you? I'd love to know!

Happy to Fly

Hi everyone, hope you are enjoying your weekend. I'm back to here with my project for today's Mixed Media Place post!

This mini card has been created with some of my favourite textures; denim, corrugated cardboard, wire and burlap flowers.

I created the background by layering papers and die cut elements adding metal embellishments then softening the composition with flowers. Texture has been added with mica flakes which I sprinkled into wet gesso ground the flowers.

I used an old jigsaw puzzle piece from my junk box which I painted with gesso, then added paint and pencil highlights. The resin bird was coloured the same way, which works so well when the pencils catch all those details of the bird.

Hugs until next time,

Hello again dears. Someone very special has a birthday today over on the Prima blog. Pom is our CEO and the talented, energetic, super-woman behind the Prima name! We have created some celebratory tags in her honour and are all getting our cupcakes and kazoos to wish her a very happy day!

And here is my tag created with Garden Fable papers, flowers and embellishments.

Lots of lovely layers going on...

Happy Birthday, Pom! Hope you have a fun filled day!

Watercolour Wonders

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing great. I have a watercolor card that I created for the Prima blog   feature today.

For my card I've used a combination of The Basics and Scenic Route watercolour pencils which I blended with the watercolor brush pen onto Bloom watercolour paper.

I've added some deeper highlights with Plumeria Color Bloom mist and diluting once again with the watercolour brush pen.

The card is finished with some feather "leaves" which I was really pleased with the end result and flowers which have had a watercolour details added with the pencils.

Under The Sea

Hello lovelies! I hope you are well. Today I'm sharing a card I created for Mixed Media Place (or should that be Plaice - bad joke time!) with plenty of marine vibes goin' on.

I used a piece of scrap card board as a card base which I covered with Art Extravagance White Crackle paint which created great dimension to play with. I highlighted the crackles with watercolour pencils and mica powders.

I've used wire, wool, muslin and semi precious stones to created the "sea foam" and "coral" detailing.

The Bubbles stencil works perfectly with this project along with 3D Gel ,Color Bloom and Ecoline to create a waterey effect. Glass and micro beads have been used  for the "sea bed" which were adhered with 3D gel... and a cute plastic fish which got some treatment from mica powder and gesso!

See you later!

Waking Up to Reality - Prima Product Picks

Hello! It's a new week starting with new challenges over on the Prima blog today, and we have this beautiful palette to play with this August.

And I enjoyed creating this poppy layout...

The colours this month are wonderfully fresh, which inspired me to pull my watercolour pencils out! Not that I need much encouragement ;)

I drew the outlines for the leaves and used the pencils to layer colour up, mixing with water along the way.

The background is a combination of Finnabair circular stamps and a Bloom stencil, again adding colour from the pencils.

Finished with a smattering of glitter and stencil details. Hope you're inspired to play along!
